The space between Napoli and Sorrento plus a side of Rome.

This funny thing is that this post has been sitting in draft mode since JAN of 2018. Somehow it has taken over a year to muster up the energy to finish this damn thing.

Italy is lovely and we have never been south of Rome. It would be an odd Christmas because Ana's parents went back to San Diego for good to be with Ana's sister. Her parents had been living with us for 2.5 years so we were sad to see them leave.

We decided to pick a base camp between Sorrento and Naples in the town of Castellammare di Stabia. It was sort of cute, quaint, and easy access on a train line.

Christmas eve in Castellammare di Stabia, the streets were flooded with folk and everyone had a drink in their hand.

A walk down the steps to Marina Grande.

A little off the top in San Lorenzo Rome.

Important to taste the local vino.
Yes, it is worth getting sick enduring hairpin curves to reach the Amalfi Coast.

Napoli pizza is worth the wait.

Walking in Castellammare di Stabia

There is nothing like piazza from Naples. It's all in the San Marzano tomatoes grown in the volcanic soil not to mention the oregano.

Fashion with a capital F.

Naples is a good day trip. I did read Street Fight in Naples: A City's Unseen History by Peter Robb prior to the trip. It did enhance the experience somewhat. I thought the most interesting area was Quartieri Spagnoli (Spanish Quarter).

We took frequent train rides along the Naples coast.

There were lines to get these delicious treats.
